I always love to attend the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) each year. It’s so much fun to spot the patterns and trends that are always evident. Somethings have an extremely long shelf life such as white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. I continue to see those items but then there are some new things that just blew me away! This year’s show was held in Orlando, Florida in conjunction with the International Builders’ Show (IBS) January 9-11. I was not only on the spot but I have been spot on in my recent observations and blog posts. Read on to see what I found!
Have I ever mentioned how much I love quartz countertops? If not, I have been remiss. Quartz tops, composed of 93% quartz and 7% resins, are the ultimate in durability, come in a variety of looks and are so easy to care for. What could be better? My favorite brand when it comes to quartz counter tops is Cambria. I love their selection of patterns and colors plus they make it so easy, all the colors are the same price! I was thrilled to be invited, earlier this month, to the local launch of two new additions to their luxurious Marble Collection, Ella and Brittanicca.
Elements of design are the building blocks of art for good reason. They also happen to work when it comes to planning and laying out your kitchen. Whether you are all about luxury or bound to the basics, awareness of these fundamentals can make all the difference.
Every designer has a trademark. One of mine definitely is the microwave drawer. Why? It’s safe, easy to use and very unobtrusive. Yes, a microwave drawer will cost you a bit more than the over-the-range type but it’s oh so worth it!
If you’ve spent any time researching cabinets for your new kitchen or bath you’ve probably come across then name Wood-Mode. It’s the nation’s largest manufacturer of custom cabinetry for kitchens, baths and other rooms throughout the home and they’ve been around for 42 years. I learned that Wood-Mode has great name recognition in the industry for good reason. Their booth at KBIS was impressive and fun! Four yellow Lab pups were on hand to demonstrate one of their lifestyle concepts, The Pet Parlor.
